Nine Inch Nails... My favourite band if you couldn't tell already.

It was only around the end of 2020 when I first got into them.
Something about the way Trent writes/produces his songs really stuck with me at the time and still does now. I love the cold mechinical feel of most of his songs and the surprising warmth underneath some. The lyrical themes and how deep Trent dives into his own mind never fails to amaze me. There's just something about his lyrics which feels very real if that makes sense.

Reznor began his music career at the early age of 17 in 1982. Playing in a decent amount of Synth-Pop/AOR bands before forming Nine Inch Nails in 1988 which was, at first, also another Synth-Pop band drawing inspiration from bands like Skinny Puppy. This Synth-Pop influence is probably best heard on the bootleg album 'Purest Feeling' with songs like Maybe Just Once not sounding like anything they'd do in the future it's honestly really interesting to look back on even though that early demo bootleg had many flaws it's super charming too I'd definitely recommend it if you're a big NIN fan.

Anyways in 1989 Nine Inch Nails would release their first official album 'Pretty Hate Machine' which was a major step up from the stuff we heard on Purest Feeling though very tame in comparison to NIN's later work, so about 3 years later in 1992 they'd release their BROKEN EP which is much more in line with what people have come to expect from Nine Inch nails, distorted industrial sounds, a lot of screaming and very disturbing imagery. Along with that EP came a certain VHS tape (Graphic Warning!) which even made the news at some point due to how disturbing it was, I think it was even banned? That'd make sense lol I love it though it's like one big music video for the entire EP. Anyway after that came The Downward Spiral and what can I even say about this album that hasn't been said before... It's perfect same goes for The fragile. Trent would continue releasing music under the Nine Inch Nails name, they're still active until this day and although they never quite reached the same level of perfection as they had on TDS and The Fragile I still love every release they put out... If I had to rank them all it'd probably look something like this.
